Partnering with Consumers to Become a Pioneer in Carbon Reduction

P&G Hong Kong's brand Pampers and Watsons Hong Kong have collaborated to launch an environmental sustainability campaign. In its fourth year, they, in collaboration with World Green Organisation for the preservation of Hong Kong's native tree species, will continue to gather more parents and babies to participate in the "Tree Planting and Carbon Reduction Pioneer" program. By purchasing Pampers products between 29 March and 18 April 2024, you will be able to support the World Green Organisation's efforts to reduce carbon emissions in Hong Kong with the planting of Maple trees, which are native to Hong Kong and are known for their excellent carbon adsorptions, in our local Country Park. In addition, upon purchase of Pampers products over $999 at Watsons Hong Kong online store, you will have a chance to receive two tickets to Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden and a certificate issued by World Green Organisation, so that babies can love nature by getting close to it!

Protect Hong Kong's Native Maple Trees and Become a Carbon Reduction Pioneer!

Starting from 2021, Pampers and Watsons Hong Kong have collaborated to launch the Tree Preservation Campaign to build a sustainable green future for babies, where every purchase of Pampers products can be transformed into an effort to preserve the world's forests. Over the past three years, Pampers has planted more than 10,000 saplings in Southeast Asia, and since last year, it has shifted its focus back to Hong Kong by collaborating with the World Green Organisation to conserve local native tree species. From March 29 to April 18 this year, Pampers will again cooperate with the World Green Organisation to launch the "Tree Planting and Carbon Reduction Pioneer" program. For every purchase of Pampers products over $999, Pampers will donate a portion of the proceeds from this event to support the World Green Organisation's planting of 100 native maple trees, equivalent to the size of a badminton court, in Tai Lam Country Park, in order to protect Hong Kong's forests and to plant a green future for babies!

In addition to Pampers' meticulous care and family love, babies' happy and strong growth also comes from the nourishment of the environment and the land. With global warming becoming more and more severe, Hong Kong has also been affected by climate change in recent years. With the increasing frequency of unusual weather events and the worsening of the urban heat island effect, it is even more important to safeguard the sustainability of Hong Kong's environment. Maple, a native tree species planted in the Tai Po Country Park this time, is one of the best carbon adsorption tools, as its leaves have a higher ecological value than other native tree species. Maple leaves grow relatively fast and can absorb more carbon dioxide in a short period of time. The larger surface area of the leaves facilitates photosynthesis, which converts more carbon dioxide into oxygen. In addition to carbon reduction, local native maple species are also more resilient to local environmental systems and ecosystems. Their root systems help retain water in the soil and prevent erosion, thus providing a more suitable habitat for wildlife.

Parents and babies are encouraged to learn how to live a low-carbon lifestyle

Pampers also encourages parents and babies to develop climate and environmental awareness and care for nature through life experiences and participation. The program will also include free tickets to the Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden, where parents can bring their babies to the Garden for an immersive experience to understand the importance of plants to the environment, while their babies can play outdoors in the comfort of dry and breathable diapers and pull-ups. Parents can also follow the theme tour "Fun Low-Carbon Living" and take their babies to see the organic plant gardens and taste the low-carbon food along the way, so that babies can make small changes in their daily lives, and learn the value of reducing carbon emissions and loving the earth from a young age.

The Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden was established in 1956 on a 148-hectare site situated on the northern slopes of Tai Mo Shan, the highest mountain range in Hong Kong, near Tai Po City. Through reforestation, natural growth of trees and the prevention of hill fires, the garden has been transformed from a barren scrubland to a lush, woodland-themed arboretum.
