Join Hands to Protect Hong Kong's Native Tree Species and Plant a Green Christmas

Pampers is dedicated to caring for every baby's healthy growth and is also concerned about the environment in which they grow. With the intensifying effects of global warming, Hong Kong has been increasingly affected by climate change, experiencing higher sea temperatures, stronger typhoons, and unpredictable climate disasters. Abnormal weather events have become more frequent, and the urban heat island effect is worsening. Therefore, protecting the sustainability of our local environment has become increasingly important. Since 2021, Pampers has partnered with Watsons Hong Kong to launch the Forest Protection Program, where every purchase of Pampers products contributes to the power of forest conservation. Over the past three years, more than 10,000 seedlings, such as mangroves, have been planted in Southeast Asia. Last year, the focus shifted back to Hong Kong, collaborating with the World Green Organization to protect local native tree species. Nearly 300 sweet gum trees have been planted in Sha Tau Kok and Tai Lam Country Park. With active pest control, fertilization, and maintenance efforts over the past year, the survival rate of these seedlings has reached 97%. In addition to carbon reduction, local native sweet gum trees are more adaptable to the local ecosystem. The branches and trunks of these trees provide habitats for various animals, including birds and small mammals, enhancing the biodiversity of the Ting Kau aqueduct mountain trail. Furthermore, the root systems of sweet gum trees help stabilize the soil, prevent erosion, and improve moisture retention, continuously conserving the surrounding natural environment and maintaining biological diversity. From December 6 to 26 this year, Pampers will once again collaborate with the World Green Organization to launch the "Plant a Green Christmas: Together We Grow Local Forests" campaign. During this campaign, customers who purchase Pampers products in Watsons will support the World Green Organization in planting 100 native red maple trees in the palm forest of Tsiu Keng, Sheung Shui, covering an area equivalent to that of a badminton court. Additionally, customers who spend over $999 on Pampers products at Watsons Hong Kong’s online store will have the chance to receive a certificate issued by the World Green Organization, working together to protect local forests and cultivate a green Christmas! The native red maple trees being planted in this initiative are evergreen trees that can grow up to 5 meters tall. These trees have a unique visual appeal, with leaves that remain green year-round, red young leaves, and abundant growth that produces fruits resembling Christmas foliage, adding a touch of vitality to the winter landscape. These trees not only beautify the environment but also provide habitats for wildlife, further promoting biodiversity.
