P&G ranked first in two consumer goods company categories. The winners included six multinational and local companies like Lenovo and Epson. Rene Co, Director of External Relations, P&G Greater China accepted the award on the Company’s behalf at the awards ceremony held in Beijing on 25 October 2010.

China’s major online portal, Sohu and a global consulting firm, A.T. Kearney, started the “Green Gold” Award to identify the leading sustainable companies in each and every industry for benchmark and inspiration. The selection process lasted 2 months and included online voting and expert panel evaluation. More than 300,000 "netizens" joined the online voting to select the sustainable company in their minds. P&G topped the list among consumer goods companies followed by Amway, Nice, Unilever and L’Oreal. The panel, including 21 sustainability gurus from governments, media, NGOs and academia highly endorsed P&G’s comprehensive approach to sustainability, our vision and strategies. They considered our results in China, including footprint reductions in our Huangpu and Xiqing Plants, social responsibility program like Hope Schools, talent development and training programs and external partnership programs with Wal-Mart, Unicef and others.

“P&G has embedded its sustainability in its Purpose and embodied in all aspects of its operation, no matter on products innovation for environment friendly, on operation sustainability to improve energy efficacy and cut carbon emission, and on employee engagement to save one piece of paper in offices. P&G is a role model company to drive sustainability," as cited during the awards ceremony.

"We feel humbly honored for this recognition, and will continue to touch and improve Chinese consumers’ lives, in more parts of China, more completely, now and for generations to come”, said Rene Co.
